Boston Gems

Boston was an absolute blast! Brian and I had so much fun and we were definitely due for a much needed  vaca.  We started our trip at the historical Omni Parker Hotel located perfectly in the  heart of downtown Boston. We only had a couple of days in Boston and the location of this hotel made our adventures much more convenient. We tried our best to pack each day with as many fun filled activities as we could, and boy did we!

We went to the New England Aquarium and I forgot just how fun it was to leave all our inhibitions at the door and act like a kid again.  We watched the trainers feed the animals, were mesmerized by the gigantic turtles, and laughed at the cute sea lions lounging on their backs. Gems like this moment really remind me to appreciate the little things in life.

Later that day, we hopped on the T, and went on the Sam Adams Brewery Tour. It was a lot of fun and the people there were beaming with energy and positivity.  On our tour they provided complimentary souvenir glasses and gifted us with the tasting of three different beers.  We learned about beer, passed around some hops, and even got to enjoy some new flavors.

One of the highlights of the trip was stopping by Quincy Market and the Faneuil Hall marketplace.  At night there were lights illuminating the trees in the center of the strip and street performers playing on makeshift drums.  The entire place beamed with excitement.  While we were there we stopped at the Salty Dog and devoured some oysters (my fave!). After, we couldn’t help but walk through the center of the marketplace and grab some bite size cookies from the Boston Chipyard and an ice cream sundae from another local vendor.  I am, and always will be, forever addicted to ice cream and sweets so this was an amazing end to the night.

Throughout the rest of the weekend, we visited the Museum of Science (Boston),  the Skywalk Observatory at the Prudential Tower, and walked a bit of the freedom trail. We also saw the Cheers bar, walked passed the State House, and tried some local food.  The weather was absolutely freezing but when we got home it felt like we just returned from a perfectly relaxing vacation. This was such an amazing time, and I can’t wait for more of these vaca gems to come our way.

This was such good timing for me, because my husband and I have a week without children this summer (Yay!), and we want to get away to celebrate our anniversary. We were toying with Boston. You may have just helped cinch our decision. Thanks!

And thank you for stopping by my site. I appreciate it!
