March Beauty Favorites

March Beauty Favorites{March Beauty Favorites}

1.Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm  “Shameless”

2. Essie smooth trick deep-conditioning cuticle oil

3.Essie “Big Spender

I cannot believe it is already March.  Seriously, where did the time go?

My first beauty favorite is the 1) Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the color “shameless.”  I am totally in love with this new crayon lip craze because they are the perfect balance between a lipstick and a lip balm.  Let me start off by saying that this color can be a bit intimidating when looking at it on the shelf since it is a deep purple but I swear it is such a great color for a glam look.  I give it a big thumbs up as far as texture and color go.

My next favorite is the 2) Essie deep conditioning cuticle oil.   One of my best friend and I regularly go for manicures together- it’s our thing.  Can you blame us?  But, whenever we fall off the manicure bandwagon my cuticles get so dry that they look and feel terrible.  In between manicures I started using this Essie cuticle oil and it is seriously impressive.  After I used it, I saw immediate results and my cuticles were significantly better.  I even made my best friend try it for a second seal of approval- making it two thumbs up for this gem.

Lastly, 3) Essie in the color “Big Spender” is my final March favorite. It is the perfect dark fuchsia color for the transition of winter into spring.

Don’t forget to comment and follow below.  I would love to know, what are your March beauty favorites?

Hidden Gems

IMG_4282{Superbowl XLVIII, Hoboken, New Jersey}

Having the Superbowl near our home this year was exciting and unique.  New York and New Jersey were hustling and bustling with Superbowl fans celebrating all things football.  The day before the big game, I headed over to Hoboken with my family to see the giant Superbowl XLVIII sculpture on the pier; It was stunning against the NYC skyline.

Happy Wednesday!

Hidden Gems

{New Years Day, 2014}

Every New Years Eve we ring in the New Year at our family beach house.  For those of you who are new to Gems and Gelato, I first talked about our beach house experience here, way back when I first started blogging. Celebrating the New Year down the shore has turned into a great tradition and amazing memories.  And as for waking up to the beautiful beach on the first day of the New Year- well, it doesn’t get much better than that.

September Beauty Favorites

September Beauty Favorites

{September Beauty Favorites}

1. Perscriptives Colorscope Refillable Palette for eyes and cheeks- Warm

2. Dazzling White Instant Teeth Whitening Pen

3. Essie nail color polish, chinchilly

4. TRESemme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse

Happy September lovies! I’m excited to share my beauty favorites this month with you.  My first favorite is 1) Perscriptives Colorscope Refillable Palette.  This palette is so cute with its enclosed zipper case which makes it great to take when traveling. Also, the colors in this palette are “Warm” making it perfect for the beginning days of fall.  For my next beauty favorite, I picked up the 2) Dazzling White professional strength whitening pen at my local dollar store and it is definitely a great gem.  Don’t get me wrong, it is not as strong or fast acting as many other whitening items on the market, however for the price it absolutely does the trick for me.  Since my teeth are generally white to begin with this is a great pen for maintenance and small touch ups.  I stocked up on a few to last me through the season.

Last month I went to the nail salon with my best friend and she tried her hardest to pick a nail polish that was not a “fall” color. As she naturally gravitated to every grey and forest green nail polish on the wall she hesitantly settled for a summer blue instead.  In the spirit of my bestie, I put in a beautiful “fall” grey nail color for her in this month’s favorites, 3) Essie Nail Polish in “Chinchilly.”  This Essie color is just the right amount of grey with a small lavender undertone.  My last favorite of the month is 4) TRESemmé 24 hour body foaming mousse. Lately, I have been putting a bit in my hair (especially at the roots) before I blow it out with the blow dryer and I have noticed some extra volume.

July Beauty Favorites

{July Beauty Favorites}

1. Secret Scent Expressions Clear Gel Ooh-La-La Lavender Scent Antiperspirant & Deodorant

2. Ben Nye Luxury Powders – Banana

3. Victoria’s Secret Secret Moments Island Escape Body Lotion

4. Essie Canyon Coral Nail Polish

5. Mac Bronzing Powder Refined Golden

6. MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara (Black Extreme)

I cannot wait to share my July beauty faves with you this month. My first beauty fave is 1) Secret Scent Expressions Deodorant in the scent Ooh-la-la Lavender. This has been my favorite deodorant for years and it’s such a fresh scent for the summer time. Next, 2) Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder. I happened to stumble upon this makeup a few months ago, and have been using it ever since.  Since the powder is “banana” tinted it is outstanding at covering up dark under eye circles. I like to use my concealer then dab on a little Ben Nye with a damp beauty sponge on top to set it.  It is very affordable for this type of product and the little 1.5 oz container lasts a very long time.

Next, I would love to introduce you to 3) Victora’s Secret Island Escape Body Lotion. When you apply this lotion it smells like you just came back from an island with its beachy coconut and sugar cane notes.  As always, I try to throw in one of my favorite nail colors of the month that inspire me. This month it is 4) Essie in “Canyon Coral.”  This Essie color is definitely one of my new favorites because it is an ideal summer coral and perfect coral colors are hard to fine.

Since the summer is the time to release our golden goddesses from within, it is nice to pamper your skin with a natural glow.  5) MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden is perfect to enhance your skin with a little golden color. This month I saved my all time favorite beauty find for last, 6) MAC Mascara “In Extreme Dimension Lash.” This stuff is AMAZING. I am not lying when I say this is one of my favorite mascaras I have ever tried. It does not flake or smudge and it lengthens and thickens lashes. Who can ask for anything better?

Don’t Be Fooled: April Beauty Favorites !

beauty 1

{April Faves}

1. Prime Time Foundation Primer. Bare Minerals

2. HD High Definition Powder. Make Up Forever

3. Eucalyptus Spearmint Stress Relief Body Lotion. Bath and Body Works.

4. Essie Nail Polish. Wild Thing

5.  Coco Chanel Mademoiselle Moisture Mist.

Here are my beauty faves for the month of April!  Let’s start with 1) Prime Time Foundation Primer by Bare Minerals.  I find its absolutely necessary to apply this stuff before my foundation. It holds the foundation longer and gives your skin an allover even texture.  The best part is it is SO smooth and goes on like silk. 2) Another face favorite this month is the one and only HD High Definition Powder which goes on after you apply your foundation.  It gives your skin an even texture and sexy matte finish.  I like to use the Prime Time  –> Foundation –> HD powder for a foundation sandwich.  I would also like to mention that I have very very very sensitive skin but these two face products do not break me out so I loveeeee to brag about them! 3) Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus Mint Body Lotion is AMAZE. Not only does it smell like heaven, I am always sure to get a compliment of how nice it smells when I wear it. 4) Let me start by admitting that, as some of you may know, I have an Essie addiction.  This one in particular is called Wild Thing and has some glitter for bits of sparkle. I put this dark nail color in because sometimes I like to break up the springy colors with a nice deep color. I tend to think if paired correctly it can be a wonderful compliment  5) Finally, the Coco Mademoiselle Body Mist! I really like this body mist version of the perfume because it’s much more subtle  than the actual perfume,  making it more day friendly. Have any April favorites? Comment them my way, I’d love to try them out!

{March Beauty Faves}

1. Biore Deep Cleansing Face Strips

2. Essie Nail Polish “Da Bush”

3. Not Your Mothers Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo

4. True Blue Spa I Love Shea Foot Cream

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day coming up I chose my top green colored  beauty items of the month!  Let’s start with 1) Biore Face Strips which are great at deep cleaning your pores and even diminish them in size too. WOW, talk about instant gratification.  Next comes 2) Essie nail polish in “Da Bush” which seemed to come out a different shade of green in the picture than it is in person, but anyway definitely check it out because it is a great spring color. My next pick of the month is 3) Not Your Mothers dry shampoo. I have tried my fair share of dry shampoos and this one is one of my favorites. It gives great volume and doesn’t make my brunette hair white! Last but definitely not least comes 4) I Love Shea Foot Cream. This stuff is the cashmere of foot lotions and ultra-hydrates. What are your March favorites?!

{February Beauty Faves}

1. Juicy Couture by Juicy Couture Shower Gel

2. Essie Nail Polish “Lion Around”

3. Evian Brumisateur Mineral Water Spray

4. Hardy Candy. 10 Years of Gloss.

It’s February first and Valentines Day is approaching, so I thought I would share my favorite Valentines Day themed beauty products. 1) This month I am loving Juicy Couture’s “Juicy Couture” Shower Gel. It is romantic, flirty, and fresh, PLUS  washing my bod with this definitely makes my perfume, which I spray on after the shower, seem to last longer throughout the day.  My next favorite is 2) Essie’s Nail Polish “Lion Around” which is a perfect subtle pink with the just the right amount of shimmer for Valentines Day. 3) My next favorite, Evian’s Brumisateur Mineral Water Spray, is definitely a hidden gem of mine. This stuff has been around for a while but I’ve noticed it seems to fly under the radar, or at least in the U.S. This refreshing mineral spray hydrates and soothes skin effortlessly. 4) My final favorite of the month is Hard Candy 10 Years of Gloss Lip Gloss.  It comes in an adorable pod with a giant blue heart on top, tastes like cake batter, and gives your lips a pop of pink. Nothing gets better than that! What are your February faves?
