March Beauty Favorites

March Beauty Favorites{March Beauty Favorites}

1.Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm  “Shameless”

2. Essie smooth trick deep-conditioning cuticle oil

3.Essie “Big Spender

I cannot believe it is already March.  Seriously, where did the time go?

My first beauty favorite is the 1) Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in the color “shameless.”  I am totally in love with this new crayon lip craze because they are the perfect balance between a lipstick and a lip balm.  Let me start off by saying that this color can be a bit intimidating when looking at it on the shelf since it is a deep purple but I swear it is such a great color for a glam look.  I give it a big thumbs up as far as texture and color go.

My next favorite is the 2) Essie deep conditioning cuticle oil.   One of my best friend and I regularly go for manicures together- it’s our thing.  Can you blame us?  But, whenever we fall off the manicure bandwagon my cuticles get so dry that they look and feel terrible.  In between manicures I started using this Essie cuticle oil and it is seriously impressive.  After I used it, I saw immediate results and my cuticles were significantly better.  I even made my best friend try it for a second seal of approval- making it two thumbs up for this gem.

Lastly, 3) Essie in the color “Big Spender” is my final March favorite. It is the perfect dark fuchsia color for the transition of winter into spring.

February Beauty Favorites

IMG_4255{February Beauty Favorites}

1. Shea Cashmere Hand Cream: Country Chic

2. Dairy Association Bag-Balm

3. Olay Night Recovery Cream

I could easily move to Florida. The cold city weather goes right through my bones and not to mention leaves my skin so dry that half of my day is spent applying lotion (Ok I’m obviously exaggerating- but not really).  That is where my mid-winter, February, beauty favorites come into play.  Since I often fall victim to the winter skin dryness spell, I’ve pretty much become a moisturizer guru.

Let’s start with my first favorite which is 1) Shea Cashmere Hand Cream by True Blue Spa.  This stuff is like silk… or I guess you could say cashmere, and moisturizes so well without being greasy. Double win.  My next favorite is 2) Bag-Balm.  Originally this salve was used to soften cow udders- yep, I said cow udders.  I use this stuff on really dry skin, for example, chapped lips, elbows, knees, and even my hands.  This salve is not only good at moisturizing within minutes it helps heal very dry cracked skin too.  My last favorite is the 3) Olay Night Recovery Cream.  Every night in the winter I use the Olay Recovery Cream as a way to hydrate my face while I sleep.  Many face lotions just don’t cut it in the winter but this works wonders.

Three cheers for moisturized skin in the midst of winter.  Hydrate away little gems.

January Beauty Favorites

January Beauty Favorites

{January Beauty Favorites}

1. elf Studio High Definition Loose Face Powder

2. Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Intensive Moisture Mask

3. Maybelline New York Fit Me! Powder, 120 Classic Ivory

Happy New Year! 2013 had been an amazing year and I could not have been more blessed.  I feel very fortunate for all my beautiful family, friends, and followers who never cease to amaze me with their continuous support.

A few weeks back, I went to Target and stocked up on a ton of beauty items. Necessary? Probably not, but totally worth it.  The first item I found was the 1) E.l.f High Definition Loose Face Powder. I always set my makeup with a translucent powder (I normally use this) but I happened to run out.  While I was aimlessly wandering around Target, which seems to always happen when I walk into place, I found the E.l.f High Def powder. Since I am an E.l.f fan to begin with, I figured why not give it a try.  Seriously, this product is awesome. I used it for New Years Eve and my makeup did not budge!

My next favorite is the 2) Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Mask.  I love hair masks, and this one is great. It is smooth and leaves your hair extremely silky.  On a side note, last week I put coconut oil in my hair (another Pinterest inspiration to say the least) and I literally had to wash my hair 3 times in 24 hours in order to get it out.  I probably went coco-crazy and over did it- I will  attempt the coconut oil mask another time with much less of it. But in the mean time, let me spare you the time and trouble coconut oil brought me- leave the coconut oil in the kitchen and buy the Organix hair mask.

Lastly 3) is the Maybelline, Fit Me! Powder. It blends very well, lasts forever, and they have every skin color imaginable. I normally use some foundation, then blend some Fit Me! powder over it for extra coverage.  What are your January beauty favorites?

Again, Happy New Year!

December Beauty Favorites

December Beauty Favorites{December Beauty Favorites}

1. Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Forever Eau de Parfum

2. EyeStudio Maybelline shadow Makeover Mocha

3. Jordana Easyliner For Lips: Cabernet & Plush Plum

4. Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner: Black

I cannot believe how this month is flying by! I am really excited to share this month’s beauty favorites because they are awesome! So my first pick is 1) Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Forever Eau de Parfum. It is fresh with sweet undertones- totally love it. Next, 2) the Maybelline Shadow Eye Studio.  This one is limited edition so my store had very few left. I love how this quad set has a slight shimmer and is highly pigmented which is hard to find in drug store shadows.  Then comes 3) Jordana Easyliner for lips. These little pencils are amazing, they are retractable so you never have to sharpen them and not to mention they are ridiculously cheap ($1.99- I kid you not).  In the picture above I have showed the Cabernet & Plush Plum colors but another one of my favorites is Tawny.  Tawny matches my lip color exactly so I use it as an everyday look.  Lastly, 4) Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner.  This liner is a felt tip that glides easily and doesn’t make a mess.  Also,  if you are not the best at applying liquid liner but want the look, this is definitely a great liner to buy in order to get the hang of it.  Like the Jordana lipliners, this one is also ridiculously cheap- double win.

Personal Struggles Against the Internet

We probably have all been there at some point. You open your laptop, go online, and find yourself doing exactly opposite of what you went on there to do.  You enter the unforeseen layers of the internet and sometimes never return.  Here are just some battles I always lose to the internet:

1. e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set ELF Professional Setting Spray

2. Bliss Lemon + Sage Body Butter

3. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluid

Hi my beautiful gems. Can you believe it is already November? I know I can’t, but anyway, its time for my November beauty favorites.  So the first choice I’d like to talk about this month is the 1) E.L.F Studio Makeup Mist & Set.  A while back I was looking for a makeup setter. I just felt like some nights I’d go through the whole makeup routine and the next thing I knew was my makeup was practically off my face.  I was so frustrated that I went searching for primers and setters.  On my search I found this E.L.F one.  It may not be the best one out there but for the value it became everything I needed.  It was light, not sticky, and super cheap, not like many of the others on the market.  Next, 2) Bliss Lemon + Sage Body butter.  I love the scent and it is so smooth. Not to mention, the sage undertones are perfect for the chilly weather season. Lastly comes 3) my amazing La Roche-Posay Toleraine Fluid, or in layman’s terms…  normal face lotion.  This is my most favorite face lotion! I use one pump after I wash my face and it is so light and non greasy that it’s amazing. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

{November Beauty Favorites}

1. NYX Liquid Crystal Liner

2. Benefit Watt’s Up!

3. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara Black

Ah, the joys of trying new beauty products. I swear, its like Christmas morning for me, opening the beauty gems and watching them glisten in all their glory.    First up is the 1) NYX Crystal Liner.  I saw this look on Pinterest and was determined to find a glitter gold liner to make this look happen.  That’s where the NYX liner comes in and it is awesome.  I definitely think you should give it a try, and not to mention it’s reasonably priced too. Next comes 2) Benefit Watt’s up.  I haven’t ever used a highlighter mainly for the fact that I haven’t found one I really liked, well, until now because this highlighter is great and now I’m hooked.  My next beauty gem of the month is 3) Benefit “They’re real!” Mascara in black.  I love this mascara because the wand also has the bristles on the tip which makes it easy to reach the inside lashes.

Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies

Shortbread

{Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies}

Do you know those chocolate chip cookies in those giant dessert cases at a diner? Well, I have been looking for that recipe forever.  Those are my mom’s favorite cookies and I have been on the longest search to find a “diner” chocolate chip cookie recipe.  (If you have one, please send it my way!) So, in my numerous attempts to find a “diner” chocolate chip recipe I found this gem, a shortbread chocolate chip cookie recipe!  While they are not the “diner” cookies, they are really really yummy shortbreads and totally worthy of a post.

Shortbread

Right before I was about to put these cookies in the oven, I took some extra chocolate chips and smooshed them on top for garnish and for some extra chocolate.  Also, as a side note, when the cookies come out of the oven, they may look underdone, however these cookies do not take on much color so try not to over bake them in fear of raw cookies.

Enjoy the shortbread cookies my little gems!

Hidden Gems

I am genuinely sad that the summer is coming to an end but I must say I am so lucky to be blessed with amazing family, friends, and experiences which made this summer extra special.  Summer drifting away means some positive things, with a strong emphasis on some, like routines.  I am happy to a get back into a routine which definitely means a lot more working out and a lot less of, well, ice cream.

On a side note about the ice cream, I went away for a week with my boyfriend’s family and every night consisted of a very indulgent multi-scoop ice cream cone. #sorryimnotsorry. Now it’s time to kick my booty back into shape, and do things like… watch my sister run a Color Run.  Baby steps.

Well anyway, this weeks hidden gems are truly indicative of my end of summer journey, my sister’s color run, back into the swing of school, and a family dinner in Hoboken to see the summer off.  Cheers to you summer, it’s been fun.
